New Music: Drake > Find Your Love

Song: Find Your Love
Artist: Drake
Album: Thank Me Later
Producer: Kanye West
Label: Young Money / Universal Motown
Genre: R&B
Notes: Second single from 1st LP
Analysis: If 808s & Heartbreak was sung with talent and not autotune, ‘Find Your Love’ is what it would sound like. Kanye West is in full 808s mode with this beat – a cold, windy R&B joint. If this were the 90s, the music video would have Drake belting out ‘love is gonna tear us apart‘ in a rain storm, clenching his chest – THAT kind of R&B joint. Those expecting the still (!) rising rapper to actually rap here will be disappointed, but this matters not to the multi-talented artist. He’s every bit as good a singer as he is a rhymespitter, which is to say, he’s a great singer. ‘Find Your Love’ is a perfect compliment to the other pre-Thank Me Later single, ‘Over‘, in that it presents and solidifies Drake as not your average artist. With this, it’s looking like there is nothing that he can’t do, and it’s a breath of fresh air in hip hop.
