Indie Rock, Song

New Music: Band of Horses > Laredo

Song: Laredo
Artist: Band of Horses
Album: Infinite Arms
Label: Columbia
Genre: Indie Rock
Notes: From 3rd LP
Analysis: ‘Laredo’ is apparantly a favorite getaway spot for Band of Horses and Ben Bridwell. In the song, Bridwell is singing about getting over a breakup, and heading out to this Texas city to clear his mind.

Oh, I think the worst thing I could do
Is get back home to you

‘Laredo”s resonance should be familiar to fans of the first two albums: Southern Rock inflections underneath a warm, hearty melody, and it still works so damn nicely. It’s feel-good music with self-reflective lyrics, and you’d have to be a real joyless person to complain about all of that being done this well.
