New Music: Born Ruffians > Sole Brother

Song: Sole Brother
Artist: Born Ruffians
Album: Say It
Label: Warp
Genre: Indie Rock
Notes: First single from 2nd LP
Analysis: ‘Sole Brother’ mainly consists of a playful bassline, and singer Luke LaLonde dishing about his family while assuming at times, the parental roles. ‘Go and help your grandfather, he’s 77 and you are 11‘ is sung a few times, and is a good example of the tone of what the song tries to, and succeeds in accomplishing. It puts you the listener in the position of a child, which works mostly because the light and airy melody could just as easily be kid-friendly as it is warm to whatever age your ears are.
